Madhuri Dixit
Madhuri is an Indian actress who achieved popularity for her part in Hum Aapke Hain Koun and Beta Saajan. In the 1980s, she started her acting career becoming popular due to her role of Tezaab, in which she starred alongside famous actor Anil Kapooor. In the following film, Dil, Aamir Khan appeared as well. She was born into an Mumbai middle-class family, and started dancing at an early age. She began acting when she was young and struggled through several years because most the films she made had a bad reputation. She finally found success, and went on to be one of the top actors within the Indian film business. She took a hiatus from her career following her marriage before returning to the entertainment industry. Dixit played an important role in Gulaab Gang, a film that explores the struggles of women in India. Dixit has been recognized in fifteen Filmfare Awards. Of these she's received 8. Padma Shri is the fourth highest civilian distinction in India. She is known for her work in the field of social service as well.
